Tribunal Sacks the Speaker & 20 House of Assembly Members In Rivers State

The madness that took place in Rivers State under the guise of 2015 election has been "trashed" by the state's elections petition tribunals sitting in Abuja. The Tribunal has nullified the election of the Speaker, Owaji Ibani from Andoni constituency and 20 lawmakers in Rivers state house of assembly. The lawmakers were elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party on April 11 2015 in an election marred by vote rigging and violence, and described by both the local and international by observers as the worst election they've witnessed in their lives. The judgements delivered on Monday by the relevant tribunals sitting in the FCT, Abuja, is bound to further compound the case of the embattled governor of the state, Nyesom Wike. It would be recalled that he was sacked last week by a tribunal under the same circumstances. There are 32 state lawmakers in Rivers state with the election of 21 members nullified the state assembly will no longer form a quorum as to continue to function as required by the constitution.
