FIFA to confirm candidates
The list of candidates for FIFA's presidential election is set to
be confirmed
FIFA are expected to announce the list of candidates
for their presidential election on Wednesday.
Eight candidates said they were standing before
Monday's 11pm deadline, but FIFA is checking to see
if all have the required five letters of support from
member associations.
There are concerns at FIFA that some candidates
have claimed letters of support from the same
football associations.
Associations are allowed only to back one candidate.
If they have backed more than one candidate, their
letters of support will be discounted and that could
mean that some candidates have to withdraw from
the race.
Domenico Scala is drawing up the final list of candidates
The final list of candidates is being drawn up by
Domenico Scala, the head of FIFA's audit and
compliance committee.
His list will be forwarded to FIFA's Ethics Committee,
who will carry out integrity checks.
These integrity checks will be passed onto FIFA's Ad-
hoc Electoral Committee and they will decide on who
can stand.
Eight candidates to have declared they are standing
for FIFA presidency: Prince Ali bin al-Hussein, Musa
Bility, Jerome Champagne, Gianni Infantino, David
Nakhid, Michel Platini, Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-
Khalifa, Tokyo Sexwale. is drawing up
